Our Story

The day before his 10th birthday, Ethan was diagnosed with Stargardt disease, a rare eye condition that causes progressive central vision loss. He’s one of nine cousins, and from the start, he’s had a built-in team behind him. The kids have always been close, and this just gave them one more reason to show up for each other.

At first, we focused on simple ways to help. We started participating in the Foundation Fighting Blindness VisionWalks each year and raised money by reaching out to friends and family, running lemonade stands, and pitching in however we could. Over time, those efforts grew—Julia even started knitting and selling hats to contribute.

Now, the cousins are trying something new.

By Lucy’s Light

The name comes from St. Lucy, the patron saint of vision. Her name means “light,” and that felt like a good fit. We are all working toward the same thing: bringing more light, more clarity, and more hope into Ethan’s future and the future of others facing vision loss.

By Lucy’s Light is a space for the cousins to create and sell their projects. Right now, that’s mostly 3D-printed items, but this is just the beginning. As their creativity grows, so will what you find here.

Why We Do This

All of the money raised on this website goes directly toward our annual VisionWalk donations for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, helping fund critical research for treatments and cures. It’s one more way for the kids to get involved and feel like they’re making a difference.

Thank you for being helping us move closer to a brighter future, by Lucy’s light. We’re glad you’re here and appreciate the support!
